| More than 12 lakh untrained teachers apeared for the exam
More than 12 lakh untrained teachers appeared for the exam of diploma in elemantry education as conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Formerly, NIOS was known as National Open School and was established in 1989 under the Ministry of Union Human Resource Development. For the diploma, more than 12 lakh teachers had enrolled in the program whose exam were conducted at 3186 different centers across the nations. In a statement NIOS said “The D.El.Ed program is a specifically designed package for in-service untrained teachers working in primary or upper primary schools of different states of the country.” “The program, run in pursuance of the Prime Minister’s digital India campaign, is a unique example of usage of informatic practice. For this course, right from the process of entrance to control of exam has been made online,” it added. A large number of teachers have registered for the course and are appearing for the exams. The data revealed by the NIOS is as follow: 1,62,457 untrained teachers have registered from West Bengal2,69,377 untrained teachers have registered from Bihar1,16,930 untrained teachers have registered from Assam66,323 untrained teachers have registered from Jharkhand52084 untrained teachers have registered from Odisha A senior NIOS official said that if they fail the exam this time, they will get another chance to clear the exam. Today, the teachers appeared for the exam of Pedagogic process in elementary schools and tomorrow they will appear for learning language at the elementary level. Under the Right to education Act, it is essential for the teachers to complete their diploma by March 2019 or they might end up losing their jobs.
