J&K no longer a part of India says Maharashtras SSC textbook

J&K no longer a part of India says, Maharashtra’s SSC textbook

This year newly printed textbooks of the SSC (Maharashtra) depicted a large part of the J&K outside the boundary lines of the India. Not only this, but the textbooks also contain faulty picture of the national flag. These and other such errors were pointed out by the Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil in a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In the letter Patil also demanded the immediate arrest of the person/s guilty and responsible for this gauche act. All these errors belong to the class 10 Geography textbook. Patil pointed that all the errors are in the textbooks recently published by the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production & Curriculum Research for the academic year starting 2018. “In chapter 3, page 24, a map of India is published but it is very erroneous as a large part of Jammu & Kashmir is not shown within the borders of the country,” he said in the letter. Similarly, in chapter 2, page 9, national falg has been published in which the color of the Ashok Chakra is wrong. He further said that earlier, the textbook was kept in a seminar for a review when former school Principal K.U. Sonawane and others raised some serious objection and asked to make the necessary corrections.  “However, the required changes were not made and the textbooks carry the wrong images of India and the national tricolour, besides many other mistakes which have crept into the book,” Vikhe-Patil said. Patil demanded that mistakes be rectified and a revised version of the book should be made available from the next academic year.

Mumbai University to use holograms on answer sheets

Mumbai University to use holograms on answer sheets

In a bid to eliminate the errors and publish the results of the exams on time the Mumbai University, which will continue with the onscreen assessment, will introduce holograms on the answer sheets. During the last year’s result fiasco, one of the reasons for the delay was that the sheets of the students could not be reconciled. In order to avoid such blunder, holograms containing the information of the students will be pasted on the answer sheets so that manual entry and related errors can be prevented. “Currently the answer sheets take in details through the bubble system where the students have to fill in the bubbles. This leads to several errors and reconciliation becomes difficult. Most institutes that use online assessment also have hologram system in place. So, we will introduce the system in the winter semester exam this year,” said Arjun Ghatule, acting director, Board of Examination and Assessment.

CBSE: Physical education mandatory for classes 9-12

CBSE: Physical education mandatory for classes 9-12

Soon physical education will become a mandatory subjects for classes 9-12 in all the CBSE affiliated schools as CBSE has mandated the guidelines for the schools to have daily sports period. The main aim of the move is to keep the students away from the sedentary lifestyle and to protect keep them from becoming couch potatoes. With the health as a main focus of the CBSE, it will be mandatory for the schools to have a sports period during which students will have to go to the playground but will be free to perform any physical activity listed in the manual and will be graded accordingly. “Health is often a state of physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Hence, we have decided to mainstream health and physical education for class 9 to 12 with the aim of preventing them from having a sedentary lifestyle or turn into couch potatoes,” a senior CBSE official told PTI. The school has also prepared a 150 page manual for the schools detailing the sport guideline and how to implement them. The “Health and Physical Education (HPE)” will be different from the Physical Education (PE) elective which is offered to the students of classes 10-12. “Earlier, there used to be two co-scholastic areas — Health and Physical Education and Work Education. Now the two have been merged and the total periods allocated for the two will be used for HPE. This will ensure that schools are under no pressure of adjusting the time tables at the cost of academic subjects,” the official said. “The whole process of HPE will be school-based and will be evaluated and implemented by school teachers only. The marks or grades will have to be submitted by schools on the CBSE website,” the official added. Participation in the HPE will be mandatory to be eligible for the board exams but marks will not be added for the final assessment.

Quick tips to score maximum in the NEET 2018 exam

Quick tips to score maximum in the NEET 2018 exam

With NEET exam around the corner, students are busy with their last minute preparations. This year, the exam is scheduled on May 6, 2018. The exam is conducted by the CBSE to determine the eligibility of the candidates for the medical seats. Earlier, CBSE had released the admit cards and students can visit the official website of the NEET and download their respective admit cards. According to the reports, more than 13 lakh candidates will appear for the NEET 2018 exam and the exam will be held in Hindi, English, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. Strategies to score maximum in the NEET exam Well-prepared notes With the help of the well-prepared notes, students can easily boost their last minute preparation plan for the exam. Hence, the importance of assembling the study material which students used to prepare for the exam throughout the year. Sample papers Now, as your preparations are complete practicing the sample papers for the exam will be a big help in scoring maximum marks. Sample papers will help you in revision and you will get to know the mistakes that you are most likely to commit on the exam day. To better understand the exam pattern, it is very helpful to refer to the last five year’s papers. Physics Of all the sections, physics can be the most tricky section. Hence, it is imperative that students should solve as many equations as they can in the least possible amount of time. Het Shah, a topper of NEET examination suggested, “Attempt the biology part first as it takes a lot of time, although you should most definitely try to minimise the time taken for that.” Health Without the maintenance of proper health, all preparation for the exam is lost. If you are feeling unwell then instead of ‘Googling’ the solution visit your doctor. Self help remedies can back fire. Feeling anxiety during the exam days is natural and with small breaks in between the studies, students can relax. Going for a walk and listening to the music is also considered very helpful to freshen up the mood.

CBSE will compensate the students for the typo in English class 10 board exam

CBSE will compensate the students for the typo in English class 10 board exam

Offering a relief to thousands of students, CBSE announced that it will provide the compensation of the two marks to the students for the typo error in the class 10 English board exam. The exam was conducted by the board on March 12. After the exam, several students and teachers approached the board with the plea that there were several errors in the comprehension passage section. In the exam, students were asked the synonyms of the words endurance, obstruction, and motivation but the paragraphs in which they were supposed to look for the answers were wrongly mentioned in the question. “The typing error has been noticed and it has been Board’s policy to not let students face any disadvantage. The marking scheme has been decided in the interest of students and all those who appeared for the particular question will be awarded two marks,” a senior CBSE official said. As per Swati Saxena, TGT English, VidyaGyan Bulandshahr, “Questions covered almost the entire syllabus. However, subjectivity was missing in a few questions. For example, ‘In the story, ‘Shady Plot’, why did Helen appear in bits and pieces?’ was a vague question in sense that there was much more (content) that must have become a part of the paper.” The board exams of class 10 and 12 are now over and students are eagerly awaiting the results of their exams.

Right to education| For discriminating against a child, a notice was issued to a private school in Delhi

A private school received a notice from the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) for not allowing a child to attend the classes in the school and discriminating against him. The child in question was admitted under the economically weaker section/disadvantaged (EWS/DG) category and DCPCR has asked the school manager and principal to explain their actions against the child. The student studies in class VIII and father of the child wrote to DCPCR that school is not allowing his child to attend the classes. “Since April 2, my child has not gone to school as the bus driver refused to take him. I also went to the school and waited for two-and-a-half hours. Officials did not meet me, and later asked me to pay Rs 15,000,” said the father. The father further said that in 2016-17 he was forced to pay INR 14000 just to get his child’s report card. However, the school claims that the child was not enrolled in the EWS category. “The child is not admitted under the EWS/DG category. The parent has not been paying the fee, though we have sent several reminders. What can the school do when the fee has not been paid?” said Ruchika, an official in the school administration. DCPCR member Anurag Kundu said, “The school has been contesting that he has been admitted under EWS, but I have seen certificates of the parents availing the benefits. We will send summons to the school to come with records, which we can verify.” The child’s father, who sells vegetables, said, “Let the school show documents that he has been admitted under the general category. I have submitted my income certificate. My child is a national science olympiadzonal champion. The school has threatened him so much that he cries every morning.”
