Supreme Court: The standard of the entrance exam for the AIIMS will remain the same
The Supreme Court made it clear that the standard of the entrance exam for the AIIMS cannot be diluted and refused to do away with the online entrance test.Few candidates have challenged the online entrance exam of the AIIMS (MBBS) which is due on May 26 and 27. "In view of the difficulties pointed out in holding the off-line examination and the vulnerability of the same and advantages of on-line system of examination, we are satisfied that there is no merit in the Writ Petition. The Writ Petition is accordingly dismissed," a bench of justices Arun Mishra and U U Lalit said. The top court while dismissing the plea observed that "standard of examination for AIIMS cannot be diluted" and "if executive is working towards maintaining the standard of exam, then we must give them the elbow room".Advocate Dushyant Parashar, appearing for AIIMS, said that the question paper will have the same difficulty level for all the shifts and the same has been certified by the experts. He told that for 2018 exam, more than 4.5 lakh candidates will appear and submit in a court a confidential report which was prepared by the competent authority. The petitioners in their petition said that the entrance exam will have different difficulty level for all the various shifts and also challenged the percentile system by calling it an opaque process. On April 2, the apex court also asked the AIIMS to look into the possibility of conducting the online/offline exam in one go.
