CBSE Class 12 results | Student’s guide to handle post-result stress
The wait of more than 11 lakh students was over with the CBSE declaring the class 12 results yesterday. Now, that students know how they performed in the exams, it is a matter of rejoice for some and heart break for the others. It is not uncommon for many students to feel extremely disheartened if the results are not up to their expectations. "The race to ace board examinations results in students and parents both experiencing great anxiety during the results season. This has serious repercussions on the mental well being, prospects, and social behavioral patterns of students," says Prateek Bhargava, Founder & CEO of Mindler. It is therefore, very important to remember that the mark-sheet does not determine the worth of the a person and neither low marks in some exam can decide the future. "Once a student enters professional life, their marks and college tag start carrying less and less weight. Ultimately one's skills, talents and knowledge will speak greater volumes about their caliber," he adds. Below are some points, which will help the students and parents to tackle post-result stress: For students Instead of getting emotional and anxious over the marks take a hard look at them and see what you have actually got.Evaluate your options, Don’t brood over what has been done instead focus on the futureKeep yourself in the focus and don’t mark yourself with labels by comparing your result with your friends’ results.Think practically and set your mind right. Weaknesses can be overcome with the practice. Exams show what you have done this year. These are not the prophecies, which will remain true for the rest of your life. For Parents Keep your expectations in check and more importantly practical. If your child did not score good marks then keep your calm. He is already disheartened and needs you the most during this time.Work with your child and help him improve his performance for the future exams as these exams were just the beginningDon’t worry about the social circle because it is your child that matters the most, not the neighbors. If he seems to be in stress don’t hesitate to take him to the counselor.
