Non-English Schools in Maharashtra to have an international collegium



Education Minister, Vinod Tawde, Maharashtra told media that Maharashtra government is in the process of setting education board for all the non-English schools in the state. "The government has decided to form theMaharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) to prepare thesyllabus for the non-English medium schools. It will compete with theexisting boards such as CBSE and ICSE," Vinod Tawde told reporters. The scheme will be implemented in phases and in the first phase, 13 selected marathi schools will have their syllabus based on the new curriculum of international standard. He further said that each district would have at least one school affiliated to the international board. MIEB will function as an autonomous body and will set up a curriculum for the affiliated schools as well as conduct the exams in the schools.
