JEE Mains registration figures registered a heavy decline



More than 11 lakh students have registered for the JEE Mains exam this year according to the figures shared by the CBSE. Despite being such a large number, the exam witnessed a drop of 51,000 as compared to the last year.  Last year, this number was 11.99 lakh.JEE-Mains exam is one of the most sought-after exam for entering the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), NITs and other premier engineering institutes but, the numbers of applicants registering for the exam have decreased in comparison to the last year.In last 4 years, the numbers of registrations have dropped by 15.3 percent.The number of students opting for the computer-based exams has increased to 2.25 lakh as compared to the 1.8 lakh in 2017 and the number of students opting for the pen-paper format is 9.25 lakh as compared to 10.2 lakh from the previous year.Maharashtra is one of the three states where the number of engineering aspirants has gone up. "We have received a total of 1.63 lakh applications from Maharashtra," a CBSE official told HT.
