University of Jammu received Autonomy from UGC

According to the officials of the Jammu University, Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti congratulated the University for making it to the list of country's top 60 institutions. These 60 institutions have been granted the autonomy by the UGC.The official spokesman said "On being informed about the UGC's decision by Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, the governor, who is also chancellor of the university, congratulated him and all his colleagues on the well-deserved recognition of the good work being done by several departments in this University".Ms Mufti also congratulated the university for being selected as one of the top 60 academic institutions in country which were granted autonomy by the HRD Ministry.The CM said "This reflects the struggle for excellence by the teachers, administration and students of the University equally".She further said that ever since her government came into power, it has worked hard to improve the infrastructure of the education in the state with a focus of linking the quality with the autonomy.
