Fewer re-evaluation applications for Mumbai University this year

This year, University of Mumbai has received 46,000 applications for re-evaluation which is less than what is had received in last two year.Arjun Ghatule, acting director, Board of Examinations and Evaluation, said, “Usually, the university receives 60,000 -70,000 applications for re-evaluation for a semester. This time, the number of applications is lower. Now that the pressure of declaring results has eased, we will start re-evaluation from Monday.”Of the total applications 28,000 applications are from the students from engineering stream.Between 2015 and 2016 the university had received 1.31 lakh applications. According to the official of the university, the lower number of application means good quality of assessment.Deepak Wasave, a deputy registrar in the examination department and a former controller of examination, said that more applications were expected to come in.In a circular issued by the university in August it has asked the students to submit re-evaluation applications by August 31.“Since many results were declared late, more applications may come in now. The numbers may be similar to what we receive regularly in each semester,” said Wasave.
