Doctors demand third round of counseling for the NEET super specialty

Doctors demand third round of counseling for the NEET super specialty

The plea demanding the third round of counseling for more than 500 vacant seats in super specialty courses in the medical colleges will be heard by the government on Friday. The petition in the same regard was filed by the Dr Senthil Nathan along with 25 others on 18th September. They told that even after the second round of counseling more than 25 percent of the seats are still vacant. Admissions in the courses such as Admission in surgery (MCh) and medicine (DM) is done on the basis of the results of NEET. The NEET-SS was conducted by the MCI on June 10 and 11 and the results for the same were declared on July 15. For admissions, the first round of counseling was held by the MCI in August for 1140 seats. During the first round of counseling only 1141 seats were shown visible out of total of 1969 seats, as claimed the petitioners. Seats were left vacant after the first round of counseling as 250 students did not report and 828 seats were not offered as vacancy list was not submitted by the states such as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Therefore, a second round of counseling was ordered by the apex court to fill the remaining vacant seats for which the counseling was conducted from September 14 to 16.Nathan said "Andhra Pradesh and Telangana submitted their lists. Since more than 500 seats remained vacant thereafter, the apex court should direct the authority for an additional round of counseling".
