DU should consider the applicant who lost his father in a blast: HC
Delhi High court has asked the Delhi University's School of Open Learning (SOL) that it should consider the application of Rishab Sharma, who lost his father in a bomb blast and is seeking admission in DU's SOL in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) course. Now, after the directions given by a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Hari Shankar, Rishab can now submit his application for the admission. The last date to submit the application was September 15 but, considering the exceptional circumstances of the applicant the court directed the SOL to consider the application of Rishab Sharma. The court was hearing the plea of Sharma as he was facing the difficulties in getting admission in a BA program at an affiliated college of Delhi University. His mother Sangeeta told the court that her husband was killed in the Delhi High Court bomb blast on September 7, 2011. She also informed the court that even though court's orders allow the victims' children to be rehabilitated, the university is denying the admission to her son because he did not fill the form in the prescribed format. She further said that worrying about her son's future, she is under depression.Hearing the plea, the court directed the Delhi Legal Service Authority to file a report on the status of other victims of the terror attack and listed the matter for November 1.
