Aambedkar University to be the new name of the Agra University
An amendment was passed by the UP legislative Assembly to the UP State Universities Act on Friday according to which Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra will be renamed as 'Aambedkar University'. The name of the university will be changed as it was noticed that the name of the Dr. Ambedkar, in Hindi, is signed as 'Aambedkar' on the Indian Constitution. Dr. Ambedkar had signed his name in Hindi as 'Aambedkar' on the page number 254 on the constitution. A program was organized by the governor on the death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in which he said 'Dr. Ambedkar's name is usually written as 'Ambedkar' which is wrong. He said that in the original copy of the constitution, he had signed as 'Aambedkar' and this is the spelling that should be adopted.'
