IIT Bombay placements-- Overseas offers increased by 20%

IIT Bombay is witnessing a good placement year as there is 20% increases in the overseas job offers as compared to last year.In the first three days of the placement seasons, 47 offers were made to the students for various international postings. Including the pre-placement offers 60 students have offers for international postings and this is 20% higher as compared to the same period last year. The placement team confirmed that there is an increase in the US-based offers. Last year, due to the uncertainty over the visa laws fewer offers were rolled out to the students. This year, US based companies have returned to the campus with offers for international positions but with a caveat. In case, the laws do not turn in the favor of the students, parallel offers have been made for the domestic positions. According to the sources, Japanese firms visiting the IIT-B campus for placements have also increased. Some of the Japanese recruiters were Murata, IT giant Yahoo Japan, and IT company NEC Japan. A total of 15 Japanese firms are expected to visit the campus for placement. Last year, a Japanese firm – Works app made the highest offer of 60 lakh Japanese Yen (JPY) per annum.Among the offshore companies, Microsoft offered the highest package of USD 2.14 lakh to the four students for the positions in US. Taxi aggregator, Uber also made attractive offers to the students for the positions in US.
