Javadekar: 10,000 vacant KV posts to be filled this year



In Rajya Sabha during the Question Hour, Prakash Javadekar, HRD minister, said that more than 10,000 vacant posts of KVs will be filled this academic year by the government. He also informed that recruitment process for filling the 6,206 vacancies of teaching staff initiated in December 2016 through direct recruitment. He also said "There are more than 10,000 vacant posts in KVs across the country. We are going to fill up all vacant posts this academic year.'' After the completion of recruitment process, the recruited teachers will be posted in various KVs." "In addition, action has also been initiated for filling up of another 4,473 posts through Limited Departmental Examination (LDE) with the recruiting agency CBSE," Javadekar noted. On KVs, particularly located in Andhra Pradesh minister said that alone in Andhra Pradesh there are total of 31 KVs functioning in the state and there are about 449 vacant positions. "Filling up of vacancies is a continue process and action is taken from time-to-time as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules" he said. Efforts in employing permanent staff Replying to other queries such as salary of contractual teachers Minister said "all three categories of teachers get the same pay scale and the government is now trying to employ permanent staff. On the opening of new KVs, the Minister said the government is trying to establish more such schools to provide quality education. The cabinet had yesterday approved opening up of 35 KVs."
