Delhi's Education Budget and its figures



Delhi's government released its third budget on March 8 for the year 2017-18. Giving special emphasis on education, Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia said "We are increasing the education budget every year, whereas the central government, irrespective of the political party in power, has been decreasing the percentage of budget allocation for education every year." Expenditure figures on education sector According to the reports, this year's framed figure is 23.5 percent, which is slightly less than the figure of the previous year which was 23.9 percent.In comparison to the past governments AAP government has spent the significant amount on the education sector. The expenditure has moved from INR 9,884 cr. to INR 11,300 cr.Since 2000-01 the spending share on education sector has been less than 20 percent, according to the RBI.According to the reports "states like Meghalaya, Assam and Bihar, which come under the poor states, had allocated 27.8 per cent and 25.5 per cent of their budgetary spending for education in 2014-15, while Bihar had spent 23.7 per cent of its budget on education in 2000-01." AAP government's other initiatives to raise the education Last year, the government encouraged the people to read and teach from September 5 to November 14.According to the reports, 22 percent managed to read their Hindi textbook but only 43 percent were capable of reading a complete paragraph.Students were encouraged to study and teachers to complete their syllabus on time.
