DU will fill 9,000 empty ad-hoc posts this year: Prakash Javadekar
HRD minister Prakash Javadekar recently announced about DU getting ready to fill 9,000 ad-hoc teaching posts this year in the University. When asked that there is no such provision about the part time employment, he said that government is trying to make all the ad-hoc posts permanent. Javadekar said "temporary and ad-hoc teachers receive the same salary as Assistant Professors and there is no discrimination between them." Reasons behind such decisions "Now, the solution is that within one year, all these posts will be made permanent and not temporary,"Javadekar said during the Question Hour. He further added "the government wants to fill up all the vacancies and has been monitoring the teacher recruitment process for the same reason." "As far as the Delhi University is concerned, now we have solved the problem which was pending for 10 years and we are tracking it every month," he said He also told that government is mandating that every 15 days the vacancies in all 41 DU universities be notified. The information regarding all this will soon be made available on the University Grants Commission's (UGC) official website.
