Strict anti cheating arrangements as matriculation exams begin in Bihar



Matriculations exams in Bihar have been in the negative news for quite some time now due to the allegations of cheating at various levels. The administration has taken a number of steps to fight this menace on its part. The matriculation exams in the state kicked off today and as many as 28 students were expelled on the first day itself since they were caught cheating in the exam. As per the numbers released by the state’s board, about 17,63,423 students have enrolled to appear for the exam which would be held across 1532 centres. These include 8,66,255 girls and 8,97,168 boys. The chairman of the board, Anand Kishore took the charge upon himself to ensure fair examinations. The board has installed a number of CCTV cameras at multiple centres to ensure that the instances of cheating are kept to a minimum. Apart from the expelled students, as many as 24 people were arrested since they were found impersonating other students. The board said that over one million students across the state wrote the first paper of the examination. As per the board’s chairman, "The board is taking strict measures against mass cheating and the use of unfair means in examinations. We have identified more than 100 centres as sensitive."
