Maharashtra government will conduct counseling for NEET 2017
After receiving the instructions from the center, the Maharashtra government is all set for conducting the counseling and admission process for private and deemed medical institutes for the commencing 2017-18 academic session. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) will soon be issuing a notice in this regard. On March 11, the Health Ministry directed the state government to conduct counseling for handling the admission process for all the medical and dental colleges. Views of Director, DMER The high court will hear the directorate's plea to conduct state level counseling and the recent order issued by the ministry has strengthened their claims. "We will go ahead with the MCI's order and issue a notification. Our case has become stronger," said Pravin Shingare, director, DMER Views of President, Unaided Medical College Association The colleges are still thinking to challenge the MCI order. "We are awaiting the High Court verdict and haven't decided on the further course of action," said Kamal Kishor Kadam, president of the Unaided Medical College Association. "After the hearing on Tuesday, we will go through the MCI order and decide whether to challenge it," he added. Views of a parent: "The state must now work towards regulating the fee in private and deemed medical colleges," he said.Mahendra Choudhury whose son will appear for NEET examinations told Indian Express, "Earlier, applicants had to go to individual colleges for counseling and confirming their admissions. They had to pay admission fee separately. Now, this will be streamlined and there will be more transparency."
