The AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has now approved a single entrance exam for getting admission into all the engineering colleges. The changes will take place from next year onwards. The exam is on the lines of NEET which was introduced in 2016 for getting admissions into MBS and BDS courses. Details of the report "The AICTE has come up with the regulation following a directive by HRD minister Prakash Javadekar. It will now be sent to the ministry for an approval. The test will also be conducted multiple times every year," said a senior officialIn order to take admissions into the IITs, students will have to give JEE advance exam after taking the common entrance exam.Government will scrap the tests held by central agencies, state government and private institutions. About AICTE AICTE was established in 1945 in the role of advisory body and later in 1987 was given the role statutory status by an Act of Parliament.AICTE is a national level council for technical education and works under the Department of higher education, Ministry of Human Resource Development.The organization is responsible for proper planning and coordination development of the technical education and management related education in India.
