Aadhaar Card no longer required for enrolment in CBSE schools abroad



For online registration in CBSE schools abroad, students are no longer required to present their aadhaar card number.For board examination and other purposes, CBSE waived aadhaar card requirement. There are 211 schools in 25 different foreign countries which are affiliated to CBSE. More on the report The board had asked its schools, last year, to provide aadhaar number of the students.Moreover it also asked the schools to encourage students to have a aadhaar number.CBSE affiliated schools later approached the board expressing their inability in following the directive and asked board to look for another alternative. The board also acknowledged that it had received several communications from the schools regarding their inability to provide the Aadhaar number to their students as these schools are on foreign land.A letter from CBSE to schools "It has been decided to waive the requirement of Aadhaar number in respect of students of foreign Schools. Alternatively the foreign candidates/schools may use Passport number in place of Aadhaar number while submitting candidates for online registration of class 11/12 and list of Candidates for class 10/12," reported a recent PTI report. Meanwhile, in an attempt to ensure that all students studying CBSE schools have Unique Identification Number, the board has directed all its affiliated schools to set up aadhaar enrollment center on the school premises and for this purpose CBSE has collaborated with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
