No extra weightage or special treatment will be given to board students: DU to CBSE
Delhi University rejected the plea of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for giving extra weightage to the board students. DU in a communication to the CBSE said, the university will not offer any kind of special treatment to the UG aspirants from the board.A senior official in DU University said that the university considers the class 12 marks given by all boards of the country equal. In its plea CBSE asked the DU university to give appropriate weightage to the students from the CBSE board who are seeking admissions in the university's undergraduate program. The board initiated the move so that it does not lose out to the candidates from other boards which inflated the class 12 marks.Last year the admission process for the undergraduate courses began from July 1 and this year it is beginning from May 22.More on the CBSE plea In order to take final decision on the CBSE plea, DU admission committee has set up a sub-committee which consists of 4 college principalsThe meeting regarding this was held on April 24 by the Union HRD ministry.The meeting was attended by the 32 school education board across the nation.The decision for not spiking the marks of the CBSE students was taken after a prolonged discussion. Statement from the DU's official: A DU official in a recent TOI report said, "There have been issues with the boards from Tamil Nadu, Kerala or Andhra Pradesh among others on inflating marks. But they are not exceptions as even CBSE had been 'inflating' marks in the past.
