Principals with poor pass percentage in Punjab government schools will be transferred
Punjab government schools' principal where less than 20 percent students passed the class 12 board exams, will soon get their transfer orders from the Punjab Education Minister, Aruna Chaudhary. Apart from this other schools where pass percentage of the students is more than 90 will receive appreciation letters from the government.According to the reports from India Express "Principals of those schools that have exhibited less than 20 per cent result will be transferred, Chaudhary said, adding that even teachers whose students have performed less than 20 percent subject-wise will face action." On May 13, 2017 class 12 results were declared by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) and this year the state witnessed the dip in the pass percentage of the students which stood at 62.36 in contrast to last year which was 76.77. This year girls bagged the top three positions and maximum number of students were from Ludhiana. This year girls pass percentage stood at 84.03 percent whereas in case of boys the numbers stopped at 71.12 per cent and more than 8000 students will appear again for the compartment exams. Out of all passed students only 51 students studying in government schools made it to first 350 students.The overall pass percentage this year was brought down by the General English paper with maximum number of students failing in the subject.
