Kerala government may give scholarship to the medical students with poor economic background

Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state government may consider the option of providing scholarships to the medical students which belong to the poor economic background. This option, if extended, will be extended to the students who are studying in self-financing colleges. The response from the chief minister came on the excessive use of the force by the police on the pro-Congress Kerala Students Union activists while they were marching against the fee hike issue in the self-financing medical colleges yesterday. This statement from the chief Minister came when he was responding to the demands in this regard by the former CM Oommen Chandy. The acting chief Minister of Kolkata said that the government will examine all the possibilities which may help in introducing the scholarship.Taking about the incident, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that treatment to the students was denied by the staff of this medical college. Seeking notice for the motion, Hibi Eden (Cong) alleged that without any provocation, police used water cannons, teargas and stun grenades on students.
