Delhi Smog effect: Children's day celebration put off to November 19
Due to dense smog situation in the capital, Delhi government has put off the celebrations of 'Dilli for children festival' to November 19. Earlier, the festival was scheduled for November 14, 2017 i.e. on children's day.To celebrate 'Dilli for children festival', Delhi government had also declared the holiday in government schools and offices. Children's day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. For celebration, the government has planned cultural programs and other activities for the children. "Because of the #Delhismog, the #Delhi4Children festival which was scheduled on November 14, now will be held on November 19," Mr. Sisodia tweeted on Thursday. Addressing the media, Mr Sisodia had earlier said "Dilli for Children Festival" would be organised at over 100 locations across the city on November 14. The festival will feature sports, arts and cultural programs and activities, in which children can participate".The minister further added "the government would facilitate locations for the festival and different groups, including NGOs, residents' welfare societies and individuals, would organize different activities on the day."On Wednesday, the government also asked the school in city to remain close till Sunday in view of the heavy smog and pollution in the air.
