Teachers' response cold on state's plea to prepare question banks for the students

An optimistic plan of the government of Maharashtra-- to prepare a question bank for the students of class XI and XII which would help them in preparing for the various entrance exams--has met with a cold response from the teachers.Two months earlier, the government has sent out an appeal to the teachers in which it urged the teachers to prepare comprehensive question bank for the students of PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Math and Biology) but the response of the teachers regarding the appeal has been cold. Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), in its appeal to the teachers had said ' Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE ) and therefore, requests teachers across the state to prepare multiple-choice questions for the students, for entrance exams to courses such as NEET, MhCET, IIT JEE and others.' Chairperson of MSBSHSE, Shakuntala Kale admitted that the response is not up to the mark but such is the case in only few subjects. “Most of the responses are from teachers in urban areas, maybe because we asked for responses on an online portal, and Internet connectivity or access to technology might be a problem in rural parts,” she said.“While we have received responses for some subjects, ideally, we want more responses since we hope to put together a comprehensive question bank. But we have received only a few responses for subjects like Mathematics. We tried to analyze the reasons behind this… it could be because some of the mathematical calculation signs or formulas could not be uploaded online. So, we have decided to allow the Math teachers to come to divisional board offices and submit their questions in writing,” added Kale.In its latest appeal, the board has asked the teachers send their responses by December 31 latest.
