Times Higher Education Ranking 2018: Oxford--World's best university for Medicine



For the seventh consecutive year, the Oxford University has been ranked as best in world for medical and health teaching and research by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018.The second place in the list is shared by the University of Cambridge and Harvard University.The list released is majorly occupied by the universities from USA and UK however, Panjab University (301–400 band) and Amrita University (401–500) from India found their place in the list for the clinical, pre-clinical and health subject category.Following are the top 10 universities for health science according to the Times Higher Education rankings 2018: University of Oxford, United KingdomUniversity of Cambridge, United Kingdom; Harvard University, United StatesImperial College London, United Kingdom; Stanford University, United StatesJohns Hopkins University, United StatesUniversity of California, Berkeley, United StatesColumbia University, United StatesUniversity of Melbourne, AustraliaUniversity of Pennsylvania, United States The ranking done by the Times Higher Education are done by considering the parameter-- teaching, research, industry income, international outlook and citations to give a comprehensive view of the universities on global scale. A statement released by the Oxford said ' there are around 5,000 full-time equivalent researchers, teachers and staff across the Medical Sciences Division at Oxford, as well as 1,500 graduate and 1,500 undergraduate students.' ‘Oxford is a special place because of the close relationship between research, teaching and clinical treatments. Medical Sciences at Oxford is world leading, and we will continue to focus on its future development for the benefit of our students and staff, as well as the patients who will continue to benefit from the excellent research which is constantly transforming lives,' said Professor Gavin Screaton, head of the Medical Sciences Division. ‘Oxford's world-leading position in clinical, pre-clinical and health subjects is a reflection of the quality of the researchers based here, whose work is directly translated into innovative therapies for patients, said Professor Robert MacLaren.
