School books and uniforms to be distributed by the Punjab government by February 28

Yesterday it was informed to Punjab state assembly that the school books and uniforms will be given to the students of the government school by February 28, 2018 i.e. before the commencement of next session.The information regarding the news was shared by State Education Minister Aruna Chowdhary and also stated that the Punjab state has become the first state in the country to take the revolutionary step of starting the pre-primary classes.Now kids in the age group of 3-6 years will be admitted to pre-primary classes in government school in Punjab state. Earlier such kids have the option of either staying at home till the age of 6 or go to private school. Replying to a query about the highhandedness of private schools, she said that "the regulatory authority was active in its job and if there was a case of any private school increasing the fees more than 8 times, then the parents or the students could lodge a complaint with the commissioner at the divisional level." She also addressed the issue of closing the 800 schools and clarified that they are not closed and because they have less than 20 students enrolled in them they were merged with the nearby school.Elaborating on the recruitment of teachers she said that recently 1600 teachers were recruited and process of recruiting another batch of more than 3000 teachers is under process.
