A fee-waiver could also be considered for madrasa students opting for examinations conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling,” an agenda by NITI Aayog said. NIOS was formerly known as 'National Open School' and was established in 1989 as an autonomous body under the 1986 National Policy of education. The main aim of the NIOS is to provide education under the long distance mode with a main focus on the minority groups of the nation in order to empower and educate them.
