CBSE: Moderation policy to remain in play if other boards do not agree

CBSE: Moderation policy to remain in play if other boards do not agree

Taking into account the agreement over moderation policy among other boards, Central Board of Secondary Education is in doubtful state regarding the scrapping off the moderation policy. The board said that it will not scrap-off the policy if other boards will not agree to the same. “We are completely in favour of scrapping inflation of marks in order to maintain pass parity with previous years' results,” said a senior CBSE official. He further said that "this may put student of the central Board at a disadvantage as compared to students of the state boards".Earlier, in a meeting on April 24, a consensus was developed among the CBSE and state boards but the Delhi High Court prohibited the CBSE from scrapping the moderation policy in the mid-evaluation. The board had plans for the challenging the HC decision but fearing the delay of the results it did not do so.To prevent the inflation of the marks the board has also set up Inter Board Working Group (IBWG) panel asking the state boards not to inflate the marks of the students for class 12 CBSE exams 2018.Two more committees have also been set up by the board in order to study the evaluation process and find out the loopholes which caused huge faults in the evaluation of marks of the students of class 12.
