CBSE receives nod from Supreme Court to publish the results for the NEET 2017 exam
On Monday, the Supreme Court overruled the Madras High Court decision to withhold the results of the NEET 2017 exam, which was held for giving students admission into various BDS and medical courses. The decision was a welcome step for more than 12 lakh students who are awaiting the results of the NEET 2017 exam which was held on May 7. In its order, the Supreme Court said that the results for the NEET 2017 exams should be published before June 26.CBSE approached the apex court for its intervention and a vacation bench of Justices P C Pant and Deepak Gupta said "What indirectly this order is doing is that it is diluting the schedule fixed by the Supreme Court… The interim order is stayed and it is directed that the authorities concerned will proceed further with the declaration of result for NEET 2017 examination held on May 7". Though the authorities gave CBSE a go-ahead and allowed them to proceed with the results, counseling and admission result, it reminded that it will subject to the court's final decision in the pending matter.CBSE had challenged the May 24 order passed by the Madras High Court saying that it was against the spirit of the order passed by the apex court in which NEET 2107 exam was fixed. On a batch of petitions, an interim stay was issued by the Madras High Court on the publication of the results of the NEET 2017 exams. The petitions has alleged that there was a significant difference in the difficulty level of the NEET question papers published in Tamil and English language.
