NEET 2017 results: CBSE challenges Madras High Court's decision
Last month, a stay was put on the results of NEET 2017 exams by the Madras high court and has directed the Medical Council of India, Health Ministry and the board to file counter affidavits. Now, CBSE has moved to the Supreme Court in hopes of getting immediate stay on Madras High Court's order for restraining the publication of the results of the NEET exam 2017. The stay was issued by the Madras High Court on the May 24, on the publication of the results, following a batch of pleas which alleged that the uniform question paper was not given in the exam and that the difference between the question paper in English and Tamil was vast. The CBSE took its plea to the Supreme Court on the matter before a vacation bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and Deepak Gupta and said due to the orders of the Madras Court the entire counseling and admission schedule for the medical courses has gone topsy-turvy. The matter which holds the fate of the more than 12 lakh medical aspirants will now be heard by the apex court on June 12.More than 10 lakh students appeared for the exams in the either Hindi or English medium and around 1.25 lakh students appeared in the eight different native languages. Singh told the apex court that many petitions have been filed in various high courts against the NEET exam and high courts entertained these petitions despite the order form the apex court that no other court shall hear such matters. He also requested to move all the petitions form the various high courts to the apex courts which are related to the NEET exam 2017-18.Singh said that the questions in vernacular languages were different from those in Hindi and English and according to the experts of the respective subject these question were only different and cannot be said to have different difficulty level than those of in English and Hindi medium question papers.
