Lucknow girl scored CGPA 10 in class 10 board exams by beating her obsessive-compulsive disorder



The results for class 10 Central Board of Secondary Education was declared by the board on Saturday. While many students secured the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 10, the story of a girl named Gauri Todaria is different. This16-year old girl, who scored CGPA 10 by beating all odds against her. Gauri is a resident of Lucknow city and in suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It is a mental disorder where people feel the need to check on things repeatedly. In her interview with HT she told "The mind is not under your control. The patient suffers from a lack of decision-making ability and is not able to analyze the situation. The difficulty was noticed by my school teacher who reported the matter to my parents. It was diagnosed when I was in class 9. The problem increased with time. My mother was in tears because both my father and I were suffering from this unique problem".Family backgroundGauri's father Kamal Kishore is a stationary shopkeeper and also suffers from acute depression."My father has a meagre income. A lot of money was spent on treatment. So I could not go to a coaching center," she said.In future Gauri wants to be company secretary.
