In Bihar, failed class 12 students continues to protest

In Bihar, students who failed the class 12 exams, continue to protest even on the second day of the results. These students are demanding the rechecking of their answer sheets. The results of the class 12 board exams were declared on Tuesday by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) in which more than 8 lakh of over 12 students were failed. In order to disperse the students, the police had to resort to use the baton-charge."Hundreds of students have protested for the second day and raised slogans against the Bihar Education Minister and BSEB Chairman for the poor results," a police official said. Nine students were injured in the protest on Wednesday. Seeing the students protesting Nitish Kumar has assured all the students that they will able to fill the online re-evaluation form or verification of their answers and the results for the same will be out in a month. He also promised that the compartmental exams will be held soon by the board."We want re-examination for all," a protesting student said.This year's pass percentage of the students from Science, Arts and commerce was only 32.24 percent as on 4,47,115 students managed to pass the exams out of total 12,40,168 students who appeared for the exams.The student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) also supported the failed students and in protest they burned the effigies of the Chief Minister and state Education Minister Ashok Choudhary.A senior BSEB official said that the drastic fall in the pass percentage is due to the strict measures which government took in order to control the cheating in the examinations. To prevent cheating during the exam, this year, the government has installed CCTV cameras in the examination halls. Use of all the communication gadgets including mobile phones was prohibited inside the halls.
