JEE exams to be conducted on mobile phones
With more than 1.3 million attempting their luck in the JEE Main exam only luck 2 lakh students are able to make it to the JEE Advanced Test. In a recent meeting of the Joint Admission Test (JAB), a proposal was put forward to allow JEE Advance test to be held though the means of mobile phones.As of now, this proposal is in its preliminary stage and soon the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) council will take a look at the proposal. IIT council is the apex decision making body for the institutions.According to the reports, officials introduced the online exam for the main test and are now hoping to extend the same to the advance test. If approved, then logistics and evaluation procedure related to the exam will become a lot easier.Statements of the officials While speaking about the change in exam pattern, a senior official said, "There are many issues that have to be looked into before implementing it. The infrastructure available presently requires the conduct of the online exam in multiple sessions. Establishing equivalence of the papers used in the different sessions is an unsolved problem." Further, another suggestion to conduct the exams online through mobile phones is seen as a step to push the digital medium for exams and study on other part of the country.More details on the list of suggestions Report also suggested on the formation of panel which will be responsible for the development and testing of online platforms.If the suggestion gets approval then the issue of lack of awareness about computer would be addressed easily.Reports also suggested computer adaptive tests.Committee also suggested splitting the examination into three papers. Each paper of duration 2 hours. To discuss further on the suggestion, IIT council will head the meeting on Friday, April 28.
