Female body shape controversy: Javadekar for action

Taking the strong annoyance to the text in CBSE book which referred to "36-24-36" to be best female body shape, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar directed that strong action be taken against, in the matter concerned.A portion of Class 12 CBSE Physical Education book reads "36-24-36 shape of females is considered to be the best." The book was published by Delhi based Saraswati house which further reads "even Miss World and Miss Universe beauty pageants take the 36-24-36 body shape into consideration while judging their contestants." The content went viral on social media and since then there has been various outrages. To bring the situation under control Javadekar said "officers concerned have been told to take appropriate action and said the government will ensure that CBSE schools follow books published only by the NCERT." "Such sexist contents are absolutely unacceptable and highly condemnable. This is not a NCERT book, rather from a private publisher. That is why we have been asking CBSE schools not to use books by private publishers," he told the media here. He further added that officers in charge have been given proper instructions in the matter related and told that ministry may seek criminal action against the author and publishing house of the book.
