INR 14.43 crore to be invested for cyber security center to be set up in IIT-Kanpur



Department of Science and Technology (DST) has approved the investment of 14.43 crore in order to set up a cyber-security center in IIT-Kanpur. DST under the Ministry of Science and Technology has approved the grant and the amount will be used to purchase the equipment's with cutting edge technology for the purpose of setting the cyber security center inside the premises of prestigious IIT-Kanpur. The principal investigator of the project is a Padam Shri Recipient, Prof. Manindra Agarwal and after the establishment of the center specialists from IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIIT Delhi, ISI Kolkata and MNIT Jaipur will work here. With the setting of the cyber security center in the campus; students and teachers will get a lot of opportunities to work in the field of cyber security and will learn a lot about it. From past sometime the institute is laying special emphasis on the work related to the field of cyber security. Cyber security week was also organized by the institute last year in November. A MoU was also signed with the Tel Aviv University of Israel in order to promote further research in the field of cyber security.
