Time to be given to Elementary school teachers to gain minimum education qualification: Government
On the request of the state government, a bill was introduced in Lok Sabha,in order to provide training to untrained teachers which will help them in initiating and completing the training process. After this, elementary school teachers will be given time till 2019 to earn the minimum qualification which are mandated under the 2010 law.Right of Children to free and compulsory education (Amendment) Bill, 2017HRD Union Minister Prakash Javadekar introduced ' Right of Children to free and compulsory education (Amendment) Bill, 2017' because the state government was unable to continue the training of the in-service teachers which are untrained. Extension period for training teachers was requested under the statement of objects and reasons of the bill. Under the new bill "every teacher appointed or in position as on March 31, 2015, who does not possess minimum qualifications shall acquire such minimum qualifications within a period of four years on and from the date of commencement of the proposed legislation". Training expenditure to be funded by Sarva Siksha AbhiyanThe funds for the training of the teachers will be provided by the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and will be shared by the center. According to the government the non-recurring expenditure on this will be 453.62 crore and this amount will be carried forward to the years following until the training process is over.
