Teach Sanskrit to school children: Rajnath



Union Minister put emphasis on teaching Sanskrit to the school children and said "without it, they will not come to know about the culture, tradition and heritage of the country." Sanskrit books have everything in them including the science, he said, stressing on the ways and means to ensure that children develop the liking for the ancient language. While addressing the function he said "If children are to be introduced to the culture, tradition and heritage of India, it is not possible without the knowledge of Sanskrit literature in detail.  Although these days, by surfing the internet for an hour or two daily, one can get knowledge of any subject in 20 to 25 days' time, but this kind of knowledge is not enough for a human being." Importance of character buildingWe have heard about terrorists with technical degrees or are graduates or post-graduates. They too have knowledge on different subjects. But, this is not enough as character-building is also important. It is attained through values, without which knowledge is never beneficial for the society," he said.He also asserted that character building is not possible only through knowledge but for it to happen diksha is also required which is the combination of thinking, direction, values and principles and helps in the all-round personality development of the person.
