CBSE to scrap the grace marks for class 12 board exams
In the stream of making changes, another change that CBSE is all set to introduce is to scrap the moderation of marks in Class 12 board exams. If implemented, then this will lead to lower cut-offs during the time of college admissions.According to the reports, the move came into effect when after CBSE requested MHRD to completely remove the marks moderation policy so that the process of getting admissions for the students can get easier. In this regard, MHRD has also called the meeting of all state school boards on April 24, so that all schools can come to a common consensus regarding the proposal to scrap the policy of marks moderation or grace marks. More on the marks moderation: It is a process adopted by many exam bodies to bring uniformity in the evaluation process. In simple words, marks obtained by the students are changed to align with the marking standards of different examiners. This practice has led to the inflation of the results across the school boards. Views of the senior HRD Ministry official "The ministry has called a meeting of all state education secretaries and chairmen of the state boards on April 24 and the issue is likely to be taken up there. The recommendations by the CBSE will be taken into account and we will see if, a consensus can be arrived at with the states." Last year, during the DU admission two colleges set their cut-off 100 percent for the BSc computer Science stream/course.
