Private school fees in Gujarat to be regulated from this year: Education Minister
A group of parents meet the District Education Officer asking to intervene in the matter related to the fee hike in Vadodara.The proposed law to regulate the fees in private schools of the state was passed in the Gujarat assembly recently and will be implemented from the upcoming academic session. This was announced by the Education Minister of the Gujarat, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said " The institutes, which have charged more than that approved by the fee regulatory committee in the current quarter, will have to adjust the same in the next quarter, failing which strict action will be taken against the schools that can go up to cancellation of recognition." Addressing a press conference, Chudasama said that "the Bill had been sent to the Governor for his assent. Very shortly, the Bill will come to the government with the Governor’s signature. Officials of the Education Department have already framed around 50% rules of the Act.”Gujarat assembly recently passed "The Gujarat Self-Financed Schools Bill 2017" which proposed to regulate the fee of all private schools of all boards. The bill says that any school who is charging more than stipulated fee will have to justify the same before the regulatory committee, which is headed by a retired district judge.The maximum fee for the session 2017-18 is as follows: Primary section- 15,000Secondary section- 25,000Higher secondary- 27,000
