IIM students should focus on rural areas: Himachal CM
Virbhadra Singh, Himachal Pradesh CM, asked the students from management field to focus more on developing the rural and underprivileged areas so that growth and economic activities can be increased in the nation.CM was present on the occasion of first convocation of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur and while addressing the students he said "management tools could help in simplifying complex issues related to environmental sustainability, energy security, healthcare and sustainable development." Pointing to the fact that India and China are the major economies of the world and in both countries lies enormous opportunities of business, he stressed on the requirement of capable managers and urged the faculty to have a broader point of view about the management needs of the country. He also inspired students not only to address the challenges but also to contribute as much they can in the development of the nation. He said " the state had played a pro-active role in establishing these institutions of importance by way of providing land free of cost and taking effective steps in making them operational, adding 200 acres had already been provided free of cost for setting up of its permanent campus at Dhaula Kuan in Sirmaur district. The state is proud to have all the leading technical education institutes of the country."
