21 year old with 20 percent vision made it to IIM-A



21 year old Prachi Sukhwani is a role model for many girls and women for the country, Her feat is not that she got admission into IIM-A but she got the admission into one of the most prestigious management institute in spite of having lost her 80 percent of the vision.Her achievement brought the words of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam "Great dreams of great dreamers are always transcended." to life once again.21 year old Prachi Sukhwani lost her 80 percent of the vision when she was still in class 3 but with the sheer power of will she managed to crack the CAT exam with 98.55 percentile and got the admission in IIM-A.According to the reports, Prachi Sukhwani is suffering from macular dystrophy which a genetic disorder, very rare in nature. The disorder affects the retina located in the back of the person's eye. This 21-year old girl is studying Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Maharaja Sayajirao University's faculty of commerce.In 2016 CAT she secured 98.55 percentile.Based on her percentile she received calls from all the top three IIMs, IIM-A, IIM-B and IIM-K.Her future plan is to open an NGO for the blind people. Family background Father of Prachi Suresh Sukhwani is a businessmen and her mother Kanchan is a house wife. Her sister Nishta is also doing MBA from a private college based in Mumbai.On Prachi's feat her father said "But she is so engrossed in studies that she finds even those glasses to be an obstacle for her. She got calls from all the top three IIMs, IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Kolkata, and appeared for the interviews." Sharad Bansal, her professor and dean of Faculty of Commerce praised her and said "I have been associated with the BBA program since its inception in 1993. But this is one of the proudest moments. Prachi deserves special applause for her success despite of all odds. Her success is an inspiration for everybody." Future plans "My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own start-up. But my long term goal is to open an NGO for the blind." said Prachi.
