Malala to become the UN's messenger of peace

Malala Yousafzai is no longer the activist for the rights of girl education but is now all set to take another important task and that is to become the UN's youngest-ever 'messenger of peace'. On April 10, in UN headquarters, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, will honor Malala Yousafzai during a ceremony.In her new role she will now help in promoting the girl's education all around the world. According to the Daily Pakistan reports "the ceremony will be followed by a conversation between Guterres, Yousafzai and other youth representatives around the world on the theme of girls' education." "Even in the face of grave danger, Malala Yousafzai has shown an unwavering commitment to the rights of women, girls and all people," Guterres said on Friday on his selection of Yousafzai for the designation. "Her courageous activism for girls' education has already energized so many people around the world. Now as our youngest-ever UN Messenger of Peace Malala can do even more to help create a more just and peaceful world," he said.For opposing Taliban restrictions on the education of girls and after being shot for the same on October 9,2012, Malala became an international symbol for the girls right to education around the world.In the year 2013, Yousafzai and her father co-founded the Mala fund in order to create more awareness about the girl education and the need to empower girls stand up and demand for the change.
