No protests to be done within 100 meters of Admin Block of JNU: High Court

An order has been issued by the Delhi High Court according to which students of JNU are prohibited from holding any protest within the range of 100 meters of the administrative block of the university. Passing the order on Wednesday, Justice Vibhu Bhakru said "CCTV cameras could also beinstalled at JNUʼs main entry gate, besides in and around the administrative block. If students flout the order, the footage could be provided to police so they could take appropriate action". It needs to be noted that University already has designated places where students can hold their protests.Passing the order judge directed the students not to "prevent the ingress and egress of people in the administrative building". In case of violation of the law, the administration of the University has the right to call the police. JNU administration moved to the court to seek the directions to restrain the students from holding any protests or demonstrations within the periphery of the administrative block. Counsel moved to the court because students organized a protest in March in front of the administrative block and prevented the officials from entering the administrative block.According to the reports from PTI, the court had ordered the police to stay away from the campus unless there are signs of disruptions or university officials asked for the assistance.
