NEET 2017: TN students' plea before Supreme Court for the start of counseling



After center agreed to exempt the Tamil Nadu students from the NEET 2017 exams, some students who have cleared the national entrance exam are seeking a directive from the apex court so that state government can be pushed to start the counseling process for the admissions on ASAP basis.The plea will be heard by the apex court on Thursday.These medical aspirants from Tamil Nadu (who cleared the NEET exam 2017) are being represented by the Advocate Nalini Chidambaram. On May 24, the Madras High Court issued a stay order regarding the proceedings of the NEET result but, later the order by the Madras High Court was stayed by the Supreme Court which stated the need to start the counseling process keeping the future of the successful candidates in the mind. The government made the NEET exam compulsory last year for the candidates seeking admissions in the medical colleges but Tamil Nadu keeping in mind the welfare of the students of the state board sough exemption from the NEET exam saying that the students of the Tamil Nadu state board were at obvious disadvantage in the exam.NEET 2017 exam was conducted by the CBSE on May 7, 2017 across 103 cities and in 10 different languages including Hindi, English and Tamil.
