Kashmir valley unrest: Education institutes closed and University exams postponed



Education institutes in Kashmir valley remain closed on Monday as well due to the deaths occurred in the valley on a previous day as a result of which exams which were scheduled on Monday were postponed and the classes in the educational institutes were suspended. Internet services remain suspended in the areas of Shopian, Kulgam and Chadoora and train services were also halted between the valley and Jammuʼs Bannihal town. The valley observed the unrest because Owais Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Sayeed Bhat, died in clash with the security forces after Owais and Muhammad were hit by the pellets. Clash between the protestors and security forced broke out after the news of killing three militants including Yasin Yatoo, the operational commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, spread in the valley. Yatoo was the longest surviving militant commander of the Mujahideen in the valley. He joined the banned outfit in 1997. In the crossfire two soldiers were also killed.As of now, Srinagar's old city and uptown are under heavy security deployments and officials have been restricted to the areas which fall under the jurisdiction of the five police stations of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, M.R. Gunj and Safa Kadal.
