Delhi University may release its 11th cut-off list

With admissions over for the 10th cut-off list of DU, the university has filled almost all of its seats but, the possibility of another list cannot be ruled out, said a university official. At the close of the merit based under graduate admissions the university said that it has received 56,652 paid applications and although the number of applications exceed the total number of seats university has to offer the admissions cannot be called over yet. "The number (of applications received) includes the supernumerary seats as well, we do not know yet how many of them are still vacant.... But at this moment, it is very difficult to say whether there will be another list because of constant movement of students from one college or another," the official told IANS. The primary reason for the vacant seats is not the lack of applicants but the students who move to other college after they have secured the admission in one college. "There's no end to this movement from one course or college to another till the end, which is the reason why colleges show vacant seats till late," the professor said and further added that over admissions are also not common since colleges need to keep the buffer in order to counter the cancellations which occur of frequent basis.
