Poor condition of school in Madhya Pradesh; Students are studying in toilet

In the absence of school building, students of a primary school in Madhya Pradeshʼs Neemuch district are using disused toilet as a classroom. The school was set up in 2012 and is run by a single teacher. Till 2013, the school was functioning in a rented room but now, the room is not available any more. Kailash Chandra, School teacher, said that in the absence of a school building he is being forced to conduct classes in an unused toilet.According to the reports, the same toilet is used to give shelter to the goats during the rainy season. Vijay Shah, Education minister of MP, said "there are almost 1.25 lakh schools in the state and because of limited resources it is becoming impossible to construct other school buildings, adding rented places are being allotted to carry on with the classes". “In the case that has come up, no building has been constructed as yet. We have talked to the collector and the department. We have almost 1.25 lakh schools and in limited resources it is not possible to build schools. But we are making sure that there is no problem in finding a rented space” Shah added. He said that though, heavy rains damaged the school building, under no circumstances the classes should be conducted in toilet.“For that we have even called for an investigation report. We are asking of a report of wherever the problems of building prevail. Till the building is not made, they can go to a rented building and the State Government will bear the expenses,” he said.
