Tamil Nadu students may get exemption from NEET 2017 exam as ordinance was cleared by the law ministry



On August 16, the ordinance of the Tamil Nadu government was cleared by the law ministry. In the ordinance, the government of Tamil Nadu has demanded the exemption of the state students from the NEET 2017 entrance exam.The draft ordinance filed by the government of Tamil Nadu was cleared by the Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in consultation with the Attorney General K K Venugopal. The official, who requested anonymity, said "the ordinance will be applicable only to government colleges, and not private ones. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami, state ministers and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai had multiple meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other central ministers over NEET". Initially, Tamil Nadu made efforts to get permanent exemption from the NEET but later it made efforts to get exemption from the exam for year or two.NEET is a national level medical entrance exam for the students who wish to study MBBS and BDS in government or private colleges. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and individual MBBS exam were replaced by the government with a single national level exam NEET last year.
