Amendments in the free and compulsory education bill were made by Lok Sabha

Lok Sabha, on Friday, approved the bill which will amend the law on free and compulsory education and will extend the deadline for the teachers which will gave them ample time to acquire the minimum qualifications for the appointment. HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said, as he was replying to a brief debate on the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2017, that some of the states have come up with innovative ways in order to tackle with the problem of proxy teachers. One of the ways was to put the photograph of the teacher in the school and ask the students to verify if this is the teacher teaching them in the class. Responding to various questions raised by the members he said that government is working on a bill which will boost the academic performances.He further said that issue of untrained teachers is very acute and to deal with the issue special team has been formed which will work as a task force.Earlier, he mentioned that thought the amendment inadequately qualified teachers will be given a last chance to acquire the minimum qualifications by March 2019 needed to teach in the schools.The date for receiving the necessary qualifications was extended when the central government received requests from various states that the need time to complete the training process for the teachers.
