A total of 5kg bag weight is the new limit for class 10 students
In an attempt to prevent the physical stress and anxiety disorder in the school children, Telangana government has put a cap on the weight of the school bag which school children will have to carry from now on.The decision was taken by the Telangana government after following the government's order to put the cap on the weight of the schoolbags which the students from primary to class 10 have to carry.Now, it is mandatory for the schools (private and government) to make sure that the school children are not carrying the weight more than what is set by the government.Class wise limit on the weight of the school bag Class 1 and 2: 1.5 kgClasses 3 to 5: 2-3 kgClasses 6 and 7: 4 kgClasses 8 and 9: 4.50 kgClass 10: 5 kg Official statement from the order issued "Carrying heavy bags causes severe and adverse physical effect on the growing children which can cause damage to their vertebral column, knees and can also causes anxiety disorders in students," the order said as reported by HT. More on the report Before the order came, students were carrying bags weighing from 6 kg to 12 kgOrder also read that the heavy bags were the result of the students carrying notebooks, textbooks, guides, rough notebooks etc. in the school bagsThere will be no homework for the students of the primary schoolsSchools have also been asked to provide safe drinking water to the children Child Rights Association President P Achyuta Rao of Andhra Pradesh said "the officials should take action against the school managements which insist on workbooks and other material, thereby overloading the students".
